Ten Things I Loved About This Weekend (in no particular order)

1. No school and no conversations about whether any cards were pulled on that specific day.
2. Playing tennis with Hayden. (Okay it is not really tennis, it is more just chasing tennis balls all over the court, but it is fun and filled with LOTS of laughter)
3. Having homecooked meal with Hayden, Harold, Poppaw and Mommaw on Friday night.
4. Getting stuck in a Wal Mart check out line with Mommaw for a LONG time. (Go with me here. We got to just stand and visit with no interruptions. It was really quite nice)
5. Watching Hayden snuggle in with Poppaw to sleep on Friday night.
6. Snuggling up with Hayden on Saturday night to watch a baseball game on television.
7. Watching Hayden lay in the den floor and do pirate mazes for a long time on Sunday afternoon.
8. Taking Hayden to the State Fair on Sunday and then getting to go watch Mattison play soccer.
9. Having Hayden tell us on Saturday after his baseball game (when asked) that he went 2 for 2 with a double and a triple. (Told you he would Mr. Jack.) (It was really a single with two errors and when we pointed that out, his response was but I ended up on third. Cannot argue with that logic)
10. Taking an early morning walk on Saturday morning around the lake with Hayden and having him burst out singing "Jesus loves me" while we did. It was most perfect.

Hope you all had a great weekend and have at least 10 things that you loved about it

Good Friends, Football and a Birthday Celebration

Yep, you read that right -- football. Yikes!
(The birthday boy's endzone flip)
(practicing their routes before the game)

(getting instructions from Coach Jack)

Hayden's friend, Ethan, had his birthday party on Sunday. It was great. His mother has the best ideas for birthdays and this was no exception. The kids all had a ball. The Dads got into it and actually wanted to be at a kid's birthday party. Now, tell me how many times this happens.

(the birthday boy's sister. Have I mentioned how precious I think she is?)
Hayden knows next to nothing about football. That became apparent during their game but he tried and he really enjoyed it. Ethan's dad coached them and played too so Hayden really loved that. Mostly, he enjoyed spending a Sunday afternoon with Ethan.
(when oh when are those teeth going to break through?)

(the birthday boy's touchdown dance. Guess he will have to teach that to Hayden)
There's just nothing like good friends and celebrations.

Jerseys and Practice

Hayden is not a kid who can go to baseball practice with just anything on. He HAS to look like a ballplayer and he HAS to have on a jersey. On Wednesday and Friday I tried (unsuccessfully) to get him to wear just a t-shirt but no.....

So on Wednesday he wore his Isotopes jersey and cap. This is Hayden's take on an Isotope. "Hayden, what is an Isotope?" "Oh, Tommy and Dallas" "But Hayden what is an Isotope?" "Tommy and Dallas...well there are other players...but I only know Tommy and Dallas." "But, ... never mind........."

Then on Friday he wore his Bees jersey and cap. He looked right handsome in it. Guess I will just have to go with the jerseys and not push for t-shirts.

He is doing well with this set of coaches. They are so very good with all the guys. They are intense but they also make the kids laugh and have fun too all the while teaching them.

Did I Really Just Hear That?

Last night Hayden got to talk to Ryan and Katy for a long time. He was SO excited. He just adores both of them so much!
(The smile you see in this photo is much like the one he had last night the whole time he was talking on the telephone)Isn't this just the neatest photo? We had it enlarged for Hayden's room. He took one look at it and said "Woohoo, we look GOOD"(wouldn't it be nice if Hayden had decided to smile and not be silly in this photo taken on Kate's last evening at Dickey Stephens? Oh well, pretty girls make him nervous I guess)
Harold and I left him to his conversation so he could just be himself and not worry about what anyone else wanted him to say or ask or anything else. I was folding laundry and overheard (I think) the following....

"Oh yes I am having a good year. My teacher has a great attitude" Hmmmm

Wordless Wednesday - Where Does Time Go?

Our Little Stinker!!!

Last night while Hayden and I were sitting in the den and he was reading his books for school (under protest because there was a cartoon on television that he had not seen), he looked up at me and asked very matter of factly "Mom, do you think I am addicted to tv?"

First off I am trying to figure out how he knows the word addicted and number 2 how he knows to use it in appropriate context and 3rd I am trying not to laugh at the question. I said well yes Hayden sometimes I do think that.

So guess what our stinker says?

Well, you are addicted to work and sleep.........

The look on my face must have either scared him or made him feel bad because after a couple of seconds he said....

AND doing things for me.......

Now I have to wonder does he really think work and sleep is all I do? (Stop laughing Mommaw and Poppaw)

TAGGED - 6 Random Things About Me

Mrs. Michelle tagged me.....now I have to come up with six random things about me. Hmmmmm

(1) I LOVE being a Momma. God truly blessed me when He allowed me to be Hayden's Momma!

(2) I love taking photos. Wish I could take photos as a profession but then I would have to read the manual on using the camera and all the editing tools out there.

(3) I do not read owner's manuals for anything. :-) Just ask Harold.....

(4) My sister and I ran the roads going to concerts (we even camped out at Barton Coliseum one time to get tickets for a show. It was the coldest I have ever been and it took a while for the smell of concrete to leave the ole nose) when we were younger. Mom and Dad toted us all over the place. You name it we saw it.

(5) I am terribly afraid of heights. This is something discovered at the Smithsonian space museum when I was younger. Complete and total panic.

(6) Baseball is my favorite past-time. I love watching it. It does not matter if it is on television, in our backyard, at Dickey Stephens, at Maumelle Sports Complex.... There is just nothing like it.
