What did you do on your icy morning?

Hayden is out of school today because of the icy conditions on the roads. Being that I have finally learned to be a grown up (sometimes) I stayed home too. (Not sure that made the boss happy but you know being safe is so much more important than anything else)

This is how Hayden spent his morning ...there really is a little boy under all those covers....

Really....see there he is.....

He was not exactly happy with the flash going off in his eyes while he tried to rest

Now who would want to go to work when they could stay home with this sweet angel face all day?Be safe and have a great icy day!

Up Up And Away

Hayden had another basketball practice last night. He was the only one there for a bit and did love that. Then it was just he and one of the other little boys with Coach so he got some good work out. It was great.
We are really going to enjoy Upward this year. What a great program it is.
Now where did he get this stance? Surely he has never seen his mother stand like that.
Practicing defense. We need to work on this....we try to bump the ball out instead of just sliding along with the offensive guy, but we'll get it.
Before we went to practice, homework had to be done. Look at our handsome boy finishing his Chapter squares. On offense, look at that smirk.
Strutting as usual
Here are the up, up, and away photos....he is really getting the full extension on these shots. He does love basketball, it is not baseball but it is fun. In fact last night, Coach asked him to pass the ball and after he did, Coach reminded him it was basketball not baseball and no baseball throws allowed unless he was throwing all the way down the court. (Should never give this child ideas, I can just imagine what is going to happen the first game)

Oh and by the way, Hayden does have more clothes, these were just clean so we put them on again for practice. :-)

Santa Shoppe At School

Hayden's school always takes the kids to the Dollar Tree near Christmas so that they can Christmas shop for their Moms and Dads or other family without them present. I got to go this year which was fun. I always look for a reason to hang out with this kiddo!
He shopped for Poppaw, Mattison, and Ethan first. Then he shopped for Amelia and Scarlett. Guess the rest of us know where we fit in his life.....ha
Of course, one of the reasons I went is to try to help with the over excitement that comes with being able to be out of our normal routine at school. I should not have worried, just look at the calmness in these next photos.

Had you going didn't I? Now you knew better....this is one wild little boy sometimes!!!!

(Hey Mommaw does that remind you of any little girl in her nightgown with a baseball hat trying to show off her tonsils? Not...that I have that photo....nope, not me, I am not a photo thief)

Christmas Parade

Hayden and I went to the NLR Christmas parade this afternoon. It had been a LONG time since I had taken him to the parade.
Waiting was not a big hit.... Being cold was not exactly fun either
Patience is not our strongest virtue....... as his Mommaw said this weekend he gets that from his mother....harumph, I don't think I like that comparison at all!
Seeing Shelley on a firetruck was great. Shelley heard Hayden and made a hugging gesture at him and boy did that make his day..
Getting to pet one of the horses was definitely fun. This guy was so nice, he just let Hayden and some of the other kids do this

My handsome fella was very interested in all the floats and thinks he must be in a parade soon

Perfect Saturday

What a great Saturday....Hayden and I loaded up this morning and went North to spend the day. These quick trips are so fun. It is not like spending the whole weekend but when we have other stuff on the schedule it is neat to get to go and see Poppaw and Mommaw.
Hayden and Mommaw refilled her bird feedersHayden put feed on the ground for the little birds...After lunch, Hayden and Poppaw had pie together...yummy Of course, we had to be on the lookout that no one got out of our sight too far....ha
Hope your Saturday was perfect too!!!

New Season

Hayden started his new season of Upward Basketball last night. He has a new team, new coach and new place to practice. It was very nice. Even after all day at school and being pooped, he had a great practice. His coach is a pastor at one of the churches in town and is so nice and encouraging with the kids. We have been so blessed with great coaches in Hayden's Upward experience and this year is going to be no different - Praise God!!!

Decorating

On Saturday night, we began decorating for Christmas. Hayden has such a good time doing so. He loves all the decorations and often times we find him holding "baby Jesus". He adores the Nativity sets we have. It is always a special time when we get out the new one for the year.

This is our new angel ... she lights up and is so cool

This is our new porcelain Nativity for this year. Our sweet boy with Santa Dallas. Concentrating on decorating (or putting all the ornaments in the same area to make Mom a bit more nuts than I usually am) I never really notice how big Hayden has gotten until he is doing something like this. The first year he was interested in hanging ornaments he was soooooo much shorter than he is now.
His pretty shiny ornaments
And what do all good boys do after decorating a tree mostly by themselves, they fall out asleep on the couch watching football.........
