Award and Another Win

On Friday, Hayden's school had their Awards Assembly. He was on the Principal's Honor Roll for all A's. He was the 1st one in his classroom announced. I think he likes getting to be on stage first. There were just a few kids in his class that earned all As this nine weeks. He has been friends with most of them his entire school time!!

This morning the basketball team he plays on won their 3rd game. His rebounding and defensive skills were again really good. He tries very hard and that is all we can ask of him.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

A GOOD Day!

What a great day yesterday was.

Hayden had a wonderful day at school.

In the Quest program, the 4th and 5th graders get to try out for Quiz Bowl. He took his test to try out last week. He came home so disappointed because he did not think he did well at all. Finally, he told us "Well there's next year!"

He was not exactly correct about how he did.....12 kids were picked for two teams from his Elementary School. He was the ONLY 4th grader chosen for one of the teams. I think Harold and I might have been more excited than he was. Although he was pretty psyched about hearing his name through the television broadcast at the school. He thought it was funny that one of his teachers put stickers all over his face to celebrate the accomplishment.

He told me later in the evening that he needed to call his Poppaw and Mommaw and tell them and he needed to thank Mommaw. I asked him for what because I thought maybe she had been quizzing him in preparation for the testing. Stinker that he is said...."I got a lot of my "smartness" from her!!" I love that.

Then last night we had our first team meeting with Hayden's new ball team. He played and practiced with them some in the Fall but this was our first official team meeting with them. He was SO excited. He could not wait to get there -- see his teammates and meet the new team members.

It is an exciting time with a great group of kids. Hayden is thrilled and we are thrilled for him.

1st Basketball Game of 2011

Saturday was Hay's 1st basketball game of the season. He is getting to play on a team with some of his classmates this year and LOVING it. (Now to be honest basketball is not his "best" sport. In fact, it does not even come close). However, when he is out on the Court he gives it his ALL all the time.
It would be nice if his Momma could figure out how to take pictures in a gym without the yellow look. I received a wonderful book on shooting sports photography for Christmas and read up on basketball shooting a lot before Saturday's game. Don't really know that it helped but.... it was worth a try. :-)

Bless Hay's heart he got to guard the big boy on the other team the first game. He may be skinny but he is stout. This kid did not stand a chance pushing our boy.
During the second game, all the boys were a little tired but they hung in there and won.
Hustling back up the Court. What this kiddo lacks in natural basketball talent, he sure tries to make up with in sheer hustle.
Eye on the ball........
High fives for a job well done....
This shot is taken after the refs called the boys off....I got to excited to get the photo of Hay and his determination not to let the other child have the loose ball. HA

The boys won both games. What a great start to a fun season. This picture was taken of the team (less McKenzie) with a guy who is in a Radio Disney band. The kids wanted their picture made with him so that when he is famous they can say he came to see one of their games. HA

Beginning of 2011

Wow, the year has started off with a bang. Hayden is back in school with a 2nd Nine Weeks Report card of all A's!!!! Yay for him. He works hard and we are so proud of that. The first Sunday of the New Year, cousin Amelia came to hang out for a while. Hayden was thrilled to have the company. They played a LOT. This picture is of them "fishing" down the back stairs in Hayden's room. Such imaginations this two have.On Monday, we decided we needed a Poppaw and Mommaw "fix". We went to have supper with them. Wish I had a picture of Hayden going after the steak. I think he could have put the buffet out of business. Poppaw also brought us some wood. Thank goodness. Because it got COLD later in the week.Is there anything better in the World that a Mommaw and Poppaw? I think my boy would say no ma'am!!!To finish out the first two weeks of the year, we had SNOW. I mean we had SNOW. For central Arkansas, we get very little and it is usually accompanied with ice which makes it zero fun to hang out and play in but not so much this time. It was so pretty and Hayden had such a blast in it.
Ranger was not so sure he cared for the snow or the crazy little boy in it. Of course no matter the temperature, there is never a bad time to play baseball. Apparently coming at Momma with a snowball is the best idea in the world when one has snow. Of course, it is a good way to get Momma to put up the camera too. Man how I love this kid!!!
