The Deerslayer Part II

This is the Deerslayer after getting his third deer this season. He was so proud. This is the Deerslayer after being told he did not have time to stay and watch Mr. Dale make the deer "naked". Let's say Mommie was not his favorite person at that time.

Don't you feel so sorry for that little pitiful face?

Christmas 2008

What a great Christmas we had. Hayden got WAY too much stuff. We enjoyed family time together - my favorite and there were no meltdowns. How cool is that? Here is my little buddy on his way into the den with puppy and Dallas to see if he got any loot or just coal..... Can you tell he found loot?
We talked a lot this Holiday season about Jesus being the reason we celebrate. I feel certain Hayden already knew this but we talked and discussed it more this year. This was his morning prayer before the present opening began..
Now really....what was Santa thinking? A microphone?
Such happiness ... for his guitar
The binoculars (a surprise from Santa) were a big hit too
Like so many other parents we know, Hayden was allowed to ask for three gifts from Santa. One of them was a Dallas Cowboys football uniform (although Hayden really does not want "his" ballplayers to know he got a football uniform because at least one of them told him to never play football...hmmmm)
Can you tell who did not get enough sleep the night before Christmas?
Hayden was even excited over the stocking candy
Spoiled? Yep, just a little....
He loves the glow station his cousins got him
Poppaw may have the "most colorful" birdhouse ever made but boy Hayden was proud to have made it for him and then painted it....
Not sure what he was opening here but can you tell he was saying "ooooh"

Of course, Hayden still likes to help others open their gifts
Loving on Mommaw is special too
Mommaw was a good sport about Hayden putting his new cap on her.... (she may not be such a good sport about it when she sees it here....)

Still loving on that special Mommaw
All decked out....
Hope all of you enjoyed much family time together too.

Christmas Card Photos

I took Hayden to make photos for our Christmas cards this year a few weeks ago. We like to go to the Old Mill and take photos. I guess I should say I like to go to the Old Mill because Hayden acted like he was in pain most of the time. Sure glad we went when we did since some yoyo decided to set fire to the Old Mill in recent days. What were they thinking? Anyway, Hayden has always been so fun to take photos of, he really gets into and just has a blast. But not for these photos, he was just a big old fuddy duddy on this particular day. I took SO many photos and ended up with three that I liked just a bit so we used them on the Christmas cards. I did not include them in this post. The ones that follow are what I got the most of from my precious (ornery) son.
Doesn't he look like he is in pain? This (according to Hayden) is his rock star entrance....
Are we finished yet Mom?
I did not think Christmas photos were supposed to look so sad...
I liked this one until Ms. Diane told me he looked like a scary cartoon character
There is just no description for this one
The little toot -- can you just see the expression on his face - like nope not interested in her and her camera and I'm not looking
CHEEZZZZZZZZZ
Toothache, maybe?

This was one of the first ones and he already looks like he is in pain I'm really not happy with you Mom
More cheese....
"How about I only show you part of my face Mom?"
Hey Hayden, the camera is over here.....
So solemn
I guess this is what I get for always having a camera in his face. Hope this is not any indication of the photo ops he is going to give me the rest of the year.

Christmas Party

Yesterday was the Christmas party at Hayden's school before they got out for two weeks. I took off work and was there for the party and it was great. These are just the best kids. Hayden has a wonderful group of classmates and an incredibly wonderful teacher. We just adore her.

Before the party started, the kids watched a video. Guess who squatted in his seat instead of putting his bottom all the way in? Yep you know it!One of the other Moms put together a craft for the kids to do with their handprints. They made reindeer. It was too cute and is a great item to keep for a memory of just how big our fella was in the second grade.

John's Mom was so patient with the kids getting their hands painted and on the board.Whew what a dirty little hand.Coming back from the washing that dirty hand. Check out that hair. I think it might be time for a haircut.Look at these two concentrating on the work at hand. Hayden and I both laughed about them having their tongues out working.Still concentrating....I'm not sure what they dropped but can you just see Hayden saying "OOOOOOHHH"One of the other absolutely fabulous Moms brought a game for the kids to play. It was a chimney toss game. The kids tossed little bean bag animals at three different chimneys with different point values.

Hayden was checking out the competition. (Do you love the camo hat?"Waiting to see how the other competitors do.... Still checking out the competition...what is that look on his face?
Apparently sticking one's tongue out helps in this game because Hayden had the high score .... haOur sweaty little boy with Mrs. Faith before two weeks out of school. Yahoo he says!

Loving Mommaw

Oh how our son loves his grandparents. Any chance to see them and he is one happy camper. Sunday was Mommaw's birthday and we went to have lunch with her. It was so cold but it was so nice to just spend time together and see one another.
Hayden even had kisses for the birthday girl! We thought maybe Poppaw should smile some more but the other two seemed to take up the slack. :-)
Aren't they both just precious?
Bringing Mommaw her gift. What a big helper....
Mommaw (Mom) - we LOVE you so much!!
